Winiker Family Staircase

The stairway linking the center’s two-floor levels is a sculptural masterpiece. Designed with patient input, its landings allow for rest and support for people at all levels of mobility.

Education Area

A space that clinicians, researchers and patients will use for workshops and group sessions.  

Waiting Lounge

A family-friendly, communal space equipped with technology that helps patients stay connected. Children can enjoy a designated play area. Generously supported by John A. Lederer.   

The 25-Foot Walk

A mobility performance test based on a timed 25-foot walk that’s administered during each patient visit. The BARLO MS Centre includes three sites for people with MS to complete the 25-Foot Walk.

The Bickle-Wilder Foundation Patient

All 14 exam rooms are designed for patient comfort and accessibility, with adjustable tables, plenty of space to maneuver wheelchairs, and all the equipment needed for assessments. Additional rooms are outfitted for conversion into exam rooms.

The Chris Bournakas & Family Patient Room

All 14 exam rooms enhance patient comfort and accessibility, with adjustable tables, plenty of space to manoeuvre wheelchairs, and all the equipment needed for assessments. Additional rooms are outfitted for future conversion into exam rooms.

The Jacoby Family Patient Room

All 14 exam rooms enhance patient comfort and accessibility, with adjustable tables, plenty of space to manoeuvre wheelchairs, and all the equipment needed for assessments. Additional rooms are outfitted for future conversion into exam rooms.

The Jane Deighton Patient Room

All 14 exam rooms enhance patient comfort and accessibility, with adjustable tables, plenty of space to manoeuvre wheelchairs, and all the equipment needed for assessments. Additional rooms are outfitted for future conversion into exam rooms.

The Herman Family Patient Room

All 14 exam rooms enhance patient comfort and accessibility, with adjustable tables, plenty of space to manoeuvre wheelchairs, and all the equipment needed for assessments. Additional rooms are outfitted for future conversion into exam rooms.

Family Consult Rooms

These rooms provide patients and their families with a welcoming, private and healing space for counselling and coping strategies.

Paul Bronfman Family Foundation Procedure Room

This is a larger room for patients to receive lumbar puncture procedures and recover afterward.

Team Station

A state-of-the-art hub for health-care providers to discuss patient care issues and medical developments, located on the ground floor of the BARLO MS Centre.

Infusion Pod

The Infusion Innovation Centre features 10 private infusion pods to administer therapies to patients.

Elizabeth S. Barford Seating Lookout

Two seated lookouts, located on the 16th and 17th floors, offer stunning views of the city. These low-traffic areas give patients and staff a quiet space to chat or make a phone call.

Washroom

The BARLO MS Centre is outfitted with seven fully accessible washrooms.

Ilsa & Henry Nolting Classroom

The centre features a high-tech classroom for international experts and medical students to learn and collaborate. A retractable wall can divide the room, which seats up to 50, into two separate spaces.

Skylight

The skylight that bathes the BARLO MS Centre in natural light, providing a sense of openness.

Anteroom

Area near the Cleanroom where technicians perform support tasks (e.g. gowning, hand and forearm hygiene, medication labelling).  

Eye Wash Station

A device that can protect workers against chemical-related eye injuries featuring a shower-like sprayer that waters down on the worker's eyes, flushing away chemicals.  

Clean Room

A room for the sterile preparation of intravenous (IV) medication that minimizes airborne particles and that controls temperature, humidity, and pressure.  

Laminar Air Flow Hood

Designed to reduce the risk of airborne microbial contamination during the preparation of sterile intravenous (IV) medication products.    

Infusion Innovation Centre

A space with wrap-around windows and cozy chairs so patients undergoing lengthy intravenous treatments can chat with family or friends, as well as private seating for patients to sit quietly by themselves during the hours-long treatments. 

Medication Room

A room used solely for medication storage and preparation.
