Garrison Creek Lotuses Art Installation

In 2021, the Garrison Creek Lotuses, a public art installation of giant metal lotuses named after Garrison Creek, was installed in the common space under the Gardiner Expressway. The art installation was created by the Verhoeven Twins of Amsterdam and built by Redfort Architectural Fabrics in Holland. The lotuses pay homage to Garrison Creek, a lost river buried below the building for over a century. The reflective metal sculptures are meant to blend in with the urban landscape. The lighting component of the piece can be programmed to change colour and is visually dramatic, particularly at night. The finished eight pieces vary in height and size from eight to twelve feet.

Preserved Brick Facade

As part of the re-development process, the original 1928 warehouse facade was dismantled brick-by-brick, catalogued and preserved for the restoration of the heritage structure’s facade.
